Jim Bové, visual artist/ jewelry
I would like to create a group of sterling silver brooches called “Silver lining cloud” for the Community Supported Art program. The brooches will be wearable with back pin, and work as an individual piece and/or an installation as a group when they are mounted on a wall. The goal of this work is to remind people hope, community and individuality.
As they say, “every rain cloud has a silver lining”, there is always a hope for everyone, not matter how grim one’s situation looks. It is important that we remember it by wearing the jewelry, not just to decorate ourselves but use it as a visual reminder to communicate with others. Also, this will be a exciting project for me as an artist, to create 50 pieces of individual artwork, which also work as a installation, to be distributed to different people. To me, it feels communal: we will be united by the artwork we share, and as a group we support the artists and cultural ideas. It makes sense to me to create an artwork that represents both the individualism and the communal idea for this project.
